The Independence Branch Library serves almost 7,600 residents in the city of Independence, a suburb of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. As an affiliate library of the Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL), Independence Branch is one of the 27 branches that contributes to the overall collection and services of the county library, which include almost 19.5 million total circulations, almost 1.6 million book and serial volumes, a little more than 350,000 eBooks, almost 296,000 audio files, and more than 510,000 video files. Founded in 1922, CPPL aims to empower individuals and communities by providing opportunities for all to read, learn, create, and connect. Independence Branch began with a collection operating in City Hall. In 1992, it grew and is now part of the city's municipal complex. Additionally, the library includes a recreational facility and a senior center. Today, the county library has a total of 7.9 million visits and almost 1 million registered borrowers.
